Past Summer 01:48
On through the years And the seasons These days will fade But the evenings remain. Right hand over left hand Over sunburn over fake tan Running to the sea side For the last gasps of high-tide
2.
Out the door and turn left Right foot comes in front of left Left foot comes in front of right I'm running 9 to 5. Stumble out across the street Don't forget to lift your feet Floating eyes are watching me Aaaaaaah Back inside the phone rings Someone's shouting clever things Someone's shouting i'm saying please Just leave me alone. Up the stairs and back to bed The floating eyes are in my head The floating eyes are watching me Aaaaaaah I just don't know How long my life is gonna go Am I even here? Can you tell me how I'm supposed to know? But I just don't know How long my life is gonna go Am I even here? Can you tell me how I'm supposed to know?

about

After a few years away playing other people's music, I returned home to Australia in the midst of covid without plans or ideas.
Over the next months I found some inner voices repeatedly appearing in my thoughts and music. These characters may not have been there before, but in the vacuum of a life on pause it was free game for them to emerge.

With no end in sight to the covid life-pause, and a growing sense of powerlessness to change my circumstances these songs were born.

These songs are united by their focus on internal processing of an extreme external situation. Many were written through short writing exercises that forced quick and often stream of consciousness creation.

Past Summer longs wistfully for the simplicity of beach days with friends.

Am i Even Here panics incessantly about masks, infections and a lack of social connection.

Now it's Only You acknowledges that a smug disinterest in covid doesn't change the fact that you feel alone.

John from Venice captures the sense that something is not quite right beneath the surface.

Jollibee Jolly puddles about in a delirious boredom and lack of purpose.

I hope these songs can make you feel like no matter what you make, it's worth creating and sharing.
